Ventilago pseudocalyculata is an endemic liana from New Caledonia, only known from Maré and Lifou at the Loyalty Islands. It is found in dense humid forest and dry forest on various substrates at an altitudinal range of 10 and 30 m asl. This species is not common and it does not seem directly threatened. However it grows near the areas that are impacted by invasive species (Tradescantia spathacea) and unimproved waste dump. Its Area of Occupancy (AOO) and Extent of Occurrence (EOO) are estimated to be 12 and 226 km², respectively. And these threats could quickly drive the species to Endangered in the future.Therefore, V. pseudocalyculata is listed as Near Threatened (NT), close to VU D2 because of its reduced number of subpopulations and narrow distribution.

Ventilago pseudocalyculata is endemic to New Caledonia where it is only known from Maré and Lifou at the Loyalty Islands.

Population

Population size is not known, but based on field observations it appears not to be common.
