Acropogon veillonii is an endemic tree of New Caledonia. Mainly present in the Loyauté islands, this species is also present in Ponérihouen on Grande Terre. It is found in dense humid forest on calcareous substrate at an altitude of 0-200 m asl. The main threat on this species is linked to the impact of various invasive species (goat in Ouvéa, rat in Lifou and Maré, rusa deer (Rusa timorensis) in Ponérihouen) which hinder natural regeneration. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) being estimated respectively to 48 and 13,145 km², A. veillonii is proposed as Vulnerable (VU) using criteria B1ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v)+2ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v).
