Polyscias cissodendron is an indigenous tree/small tree of New Caledonia widespread in Grande Terre from Col d'Amoss in the north to Sarraméa in the south. It occurs in humid forest at low and mid altitude (10 - 970 m asl). This species does not seem directly threatened. Polyscias cissodendron is considered Least Concern (LC).
