Polyscias dioica is an endemic tree/small tree of New Caledonia widespread in Grande Terre and Belep. It occurs in shrubland and forest at low and mid altitude (2 - 1,020 m asl) essentially on ultramafic substrate. This species does not seem directly threatened. Polyscias dioica is considered Least Concern (LC).
