Polyscias veillonii is an endemic small tree of New Caledonia spread in the south part of Grande Terre. It occurs in shrubland and humid forest at mid and high altitude (250 - 1,355 m asl) on ultramafic substrate. This species does not seem directly threatened. Polyscias veillonii is considered Least Concern (LC).

Polyscias veillonii is an endemic small tree of New Caledonia spread in the south part of Grande Terre (from Yaté to Mont Ménazi).

Population


This species is quite common at high altitude.

Habitat


It occurs in shrubland and humid forest at mid and high altitude (250 - 1,355 m asl) on ultramafic substrate.

Threats


This species does not seem directly threatened despite a few subpopulations threatened by bushfires (at low altitude).

Conservation


Polyscias veillonii is not protected by local legislation. It occurs in several protected areas : Rivière bleue, Barrage de Yaté, Mont Humboldt, Montagne des sources, Massif du Kouakoué, Haute Dumbéa, Mont Do, Mont Mou, la Dumbéa
