Hibbertia pancheri is an endemic tree widely spread on the main island of New Caledonia. With an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 15,690 km², an area of occupancy (AOO) of 492 km² and more than 100 known stations, Hibbertia pancheri is assigned a status of Least Concern (LC).

Population size is unknown. When present, this species is abundant.
Habitat
H. pancheri is found on shrubland, edge on forest and humid forest preferentially on ultramafic soils.
Threats
Mining activities may affect H.pancheri.
Conservation
H.pancheri is not protected by legislation but occurs in several protected areas (réserve naturelle du Cap N’Dua, réserve naturelle des Chutes de la Madeleine, réserve naturelle de la forêt de Saille, réserve naturelle de la Vallée de la Thy, Parc provincial de la Rivière Bleue, réserve naturelle de la Forêt Nord, réserve naturelle du pic du grand Kaori, réserve naturelle du Massif du Kouakoué, réserve naturelle du Mont Do, réserve naturelle du Mont Mou, réserve de nature sauvage du mont Panié, Réserve de nature sauvage du massif de l’Aoupinié,Vallée de la Thy, réserve naturelle de la Forêt Cachée, réserve naturelle du Mont Humboldt).
