Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 10/05/2016Pycnandra filipes is an endemic shrub/small tree of New Caledonia largely distributed across Grande Terre from Goro to Poum. It is essentially found in humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 10-800 m asl. This species is largely distributed and does not seem directly threatened. Pycnandra filipes is considered Least Concern (LC).

Population
It is known from 18-22 subpopulations, but total population size is unknown.
Habitat
Pycnandra filipes is found in shrubland on ultramafic and calcareous substrate at an altitudinal range 10-800 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Kopeto (SLN), Goro (VALE), Tiebaghi (SLN), Boualoudjelima (SLN) or invasives species such as rusa deer (Rusa timorensis) and goat.
Conservation
One of its subspecies, Pycnandra filipes subsp. filipes, is protected by legislation in Province Nord and is found in one protected area : Mont Humboldt.
