Longetia buxoides is a shrub growing up to 3 to 4 m high endemic from New Caledonia. This species is widely distributed across the Grande Terre, from Goro (the southern limit) to Poum (the northern limit of the distribution), as well as in Ile des Pins. It occurs in maquis on ultramafic substrate up to 350 m asl. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is equal to 10,416 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) equal to124 km², respectively. It is very common and does not seem threatened. Therefore, Longetia buxoides is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


Longetia buxoides is endemic to New Caledonia where it is widely distributed across the Grande Terre, from Goro (the southern limit) to Poum (the upper limit of the distribution).

Population


The population size is not known. Field observations indicate that the species is very common.

Habitat


This species occurs in maquis on ultramfic substrate up to 350 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem to be threatened.

Conservation


Longetia buxoides is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected areas.
