Phelline macrophylla is an endemic shrub or small tree growing up to 1,5 to 10 m high of New Caledonia. It is distributed in the southern half of Grande Terre as well as Ile des Pins and Loyalty islands (Lifou and Maré). It is found in humid forest on ultramafic and calcareous substrate at an altitude range of 5 and 800 m asl. Despite having an area of occupancy (AOO) and an extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 172 and 31,011 km², Phelline brachyphylla has no apparent threat, and is not thought to approach the requirements for listing as threatened. It is listed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Phelline macrophyllais is endemic to New Caledonia where it is distributed in the southern half of Grande Terre as well as in Ile des Pins and Loyalty islands (Lifou and Maré).
Population
La taille de la population n'est pas connue.
Habitat
Phelline macrophylla occurs in humid forest on various substrates (ultramafic and calcareous) at an altitude range of 5 to 800 m asl.
Threats
Phelline macrophylla does not seem to be threatened.
Conservation
Phelline macrophylla is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in several protected areas: Montagne des sources, Vallée de la Thy, Rivière bleue, Pic du Pin, Barrage de Yaté, Côte Oubliée, Haute Dumbéa, Haute Yaté, la Dumbéa, Mont Mou.
