Psychotria pancheri is an endemic shrub, widespread in Grande Terre from Mandjélia in the north to Nakada in the south of New Caledonia. It occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary and ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 40-1,250 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. Psychotria pancheri is considered Least Concern (LC).
