It is essentially found in humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 75-1000 m asl. This species is largely distributed and does not seem directly threatened. Pycnandra benthamii is considered Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Pycnandra benthamii is largely distributed across Grande Terre in New Caledonia, from La Foa to Pouébo.
Population
This species is quite common. It is known from 10 sub-populations.
Habitat
Pycnandra benthamii is essentially found in humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 75-1000 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened.
Conservation
Unprotected by legislation, P. benthamii occurs in three protected areas : Aoupinié, Mont Panié, Parc des Grandes Fougères.
