Alyxia tisserantii is an endemic shrub and liana from New Caledonia, where it is widely distributed across Grande Terre as well as at Bélep island. It occurs in various habitats (shrublands, forests, dry forests) and substrates (ultramafic, volcano-sedimentary and calcareous) up to 1,100 m asl. This species is common and it does not seem to be threatened. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 18,474 and 356 km², respectively. Therefore, Alyxia tisserantii is listed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Alyxia tisserantii is endemic to New Caledonia where it is widely distributed across Grande Terre. This species also occurs at Bélep islands.
Population
Population size is unknown, but field observations indicate that this species is common.
Habitat
This species occurs in various habitats (shrubland, forests, dry forests) and substrates (ultramafic, volcano-sedimentary and calcareous substrates) up to 1,100 m asl.
Threats
This species is common and it does not seem to be threatened.
Conservation
Alyxia tisserantii is protected by legislation in Province Nord and it occurs in several protected areas: Haute Dumbéa, la Dumbéa, Côte Oubliée, Parc zoologique et forestier Michel Corbasson, Cap N'dua, Montagne des sources.
