Lygodium hians is an epiphytic fern on tree's trunk, endemic of New Caledonia. This species has a scattered distribution between the south, the center and the north east of Grande Terre. The species is locally common and abundant and it occurs in dense humid forest from 180 to 1,490 m asl. With an extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 6,071 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 104 km², P. ignambiensis does not seem threatened and therefore is assessed as Least Concern (LC).

Lygodium hians is endemic to New Caledonia where it has a scattered distribution between the south, the center and the north east of Grande Terre.

Population


Population size is unknown but field observations show it is a common and abundant species.

There is no threat identified.

Conservation


Lygodium hians is not protected by legislation however it does occur in seven protected areas: Mont Panié, Côte Oubliée, Haute Yaté, Mont Humboldt, Mont Mou, Rivière bleue, Vallée de la Thy.
