Apluda mutica is an autochtonous herb from New Caledonia where it is widely distributed across Grande Terre. It also occurs in Bélep islands and Loyalty islands (Ouvéa). This species grows in various habitats mainly on calcareous and volcano- sedimentary substrates up to 500 m asl. This species is very common and it does not seem to be threatened. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 35,459 and 84 km², respectively. Therefore, Apluda mutica is listed as Least Concern (LC).
