Bulbophyllum lophoglottis is an endemic epiphyte orchid of New Caledonia known only from two disjointed locations : Dzumac and Panié. B. lophoglottis occurs in high altitude humid forest on micaschist. With no particular threats and a population estimated slightly above 1,000 mature individuals, B. lophoglottis qualifies as Near Threatened close to Vulnerable D1.

B. lophoglottis is an endemic epiphyte orchid of New Caledonia known only from two disjointed locations : Dzumac and Panié.
Population
Population size is not precisely known, but B. lophoglottis seems to be more abundant in northern part of Grande Terre than in southern. Nevertheless B. lophoglottis remains rare and experts agreed to estimate a total population size around 1,000 mature individuals.
Habitat
B. lophoglottis occurs in high altitude humid forest on micaschist.
Threats
This species does not seem threatened.
Conservation
B.lophoglottis is protected in Province Nord and Province Sud and occurs in two protected areas in Province Nord : réserve de nature sauvage du Mont Panié, and Zone tampon de l'AGDR de Hyabé-Jao. In order to improve our knownledge on B. lophglottis, prospections should be conducted between Mt. Panié and Mt. Colnett, in Diahoué above 1,000 m., in Pourina and haute Dumbéa.
