Dendrobium deplanchei is an endemic orchid of New Caledonia, distributed discontinuously from Goro to Népoui. D. deplanchei is found along creek in humid forest, on forest edges and in shrubland at an altitudinal range 300-1020 m asl. From field observations, total population size is estimated to be fewer than 1,000 mature individuals. Using criteria D, D. deplanchei qualifies as Vulnerable D1.

Habitat
D. deplanchei is found along creek in humid forest, on forest edges and in shrubland at an altitudinal range 300-1020 m asl.
Threats
Main threats to D. deplanchei are wild pig, rusa rusa deer (Rusa timorensis) (Rusa timorensis) and bushfire. Those three kind of threats have both a direct impact on individuals and on the quality of habitat, but a continuous decline can not be clearly established.
Conservation
D. deplanchei is protected by legislation in Province Nord and Province Sud. D. deplanchei occurs in numerous protected areas : réserve naturelle du Mont Do, réserve naturelle de la Vallée de la Thy, réserve naturelle de la Haute Dumbéa, réserve intégrale de la Montagne des Sources, réserve naturelle du Pic du Pin, réserve naturelle de la Haute Yaté.
