in Northern ProvinceDendrobium poissonianum is an endemic epiphyte orchid of New Caledonia widespread from south to north part of Grande Terre (main island). D. poissonianum occurs in shrubland, lowland rainforest and on forest edges. With an area of occupancy and an extent of occurrence equal to 136 and 13488 km² respectively, D. poissonianum qualifies as Least Concern.

Population
Population size is unknown but field observations report that D. poissonianum does not constitute big populations by station.
Habitat
D. poissonianum occurs in shrubland, lowland rainforest and on forest edges.
Threats
This species does not seem threatened.
Conservation
D. poissonianum is protected by legislation in Province Nord and Province Sud and occurs in numerous protected areas : réserve de nature sauvage du Mont Panié, Réserve de nature sauvage du massif de l’Aoupinié, Parc des Grandes Fougères, réserve naturelle du Mont Do, réserve naturelle du barrage de Yaté.
