Goodyera scripta is an endemic species of New Caledonia, distributed discontinuously on Grande Terre (main island). Goodyera scripta occurs in dense humid forest and riparian forest on volcano-sedimentary substrates at an altitudinal range of 50-1,000 m asl. Despite having an area of occupancy (AOO) and an extent of occurrence (EOO) respectively equal to 76 and 4,365 km², Goodyera scripta has no apparent threat, and is not thought to approach the requirements for listing as threatened. It is listed as Least Concern.

Population
Population size is unknown but field observations indicate a species locally common.
Habitat
Goodyera scripta occurs in dense humid forest and riparian forest on volcano-sedimentary substrates at an altitudinal range of 50-1,000 m asl.
Threats
Goodyera scirpta does not appear affected by any kind of threat.
Conservation
Goodyera scripta is protected in Province Sud and Province Nord. This species is found in three protected areas: Réserve de Nature Sauvage du Mont Panié, Parc des Grandes Fougères and Parc Provincial de la Rivière Bleue.
