Pandanus pancheri is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia with a scattered distribution in Grande Terre (south east, centre and north). It occurs in dense humid forests on ultramafic soil up to 700 m asl. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are 9,328 and 204 km², respectively. P. pancheri does not seem directly threatened and is considered Least Concern (LC).

The population size is unknown.

Habitat


P. pancheri occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic soil up to 700 m asl.

Threats


P. pancheri does not seem threatened but some subpopulations may be impacted by bushfire and minig activities: Goro (Vale), Ouiné (SMGM).

Conservation


P. pancheri is protected by legislation in Province Nord but not in Province Sud. This species is found in numerous protected areas: Haute Dumbéa, Barrage de Yaté, Montagne des sources, Forêt cachée, Pic du Pin, Nodela, Rivière bleue, Haute Yaté, la Dumbéa.
