Alstonia lanceolifera is a small tree, mostly a shrub, endemic from New Caledonia. It is restricted to the Grand Sud massif in the south the Grande Terre, from the far south of the Grande Terre to the upper limit at Tontouta-Thio areas. This species is also present at Ile des Pins. It grows only in forests and in undergrowth forets on ultramafic substrate at an altitude range of 5-800 m asl. This species is strictly a forest species and it does not seem to be threatened at the moment although some subpopulations have been impacted in the past by mining activities (fragmentation of the forests) and urbanisation (road and house constructions) in the south. With an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) and Area of Occupancy (AOO) respectively equal to 3,569 and 148 km², Alstonia lanceolifera is common and is considered as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Alstonia lanceolifera is endemic to New Caledonia where it is restricted to the Grand Sud massif in the south the Grande Terre, from the far south of the Grande Terre to the upper limit at Tontouta-Thio areas.
Population
The population size is not known.

Threats

Conservation
Alstonia lanceolifera is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in several protected areas: la Dumbéa, Rivière bleue, Côte Oubliée, Forêt cachée, Forêt de Saille, Haute Dumbéa, Haute Yaté, Massif du Kouakoué.
