Alstonia legouixiae is a shrub endemic from New Caledonia. It is restricted to the south of the Grande Terre, from the far south of the Grande Terre to the upper limit at Tontouta- Houailou area. It grows in undergrowth forets and in maquis on ultramafic substrate at an altitude range of 20-1300 m asl. This species does not seem threatened although some subpopulations may be impacted by bushfires and mining activities at Tontouta, Kouaoua, Houailou and Goro. This species is very common and it does not seem to be threatened. With an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) and Area of Occupancy (AOO) respectively equal to 4,856 and 288 km², Alstonia legouixiae is considered as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Alstonia legouixiae is endemic to New Caledonia where it is restricted to the south of the Grande Terre, from the far south of the Grande Terre to the upper limit at Tontouta-Houailou area.
Population
The population size is not known. Field prospections indicate that the species is very common.

Threats
This species does not seem threatened although some subpopulations may be impacted by, mining activities at Tontouta, Kouaoua, Houailou and Goro.
Conservation
Alstonia legouixiae is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in several protected areas: la Dumbéa, Chutes de la Madeleine, Côte Oubliée, Haute Dumbéa, Haute Pourina, Haute Yaté, Montagne des sources, Mont Do, Mont Humboldt, Mont Mou, Rivière bleue, Vallée de la Thy.
