Alyxia glaucophylla is a liana or a climbing shrub endemic from New Caledonia distributed in the southern part of Grande Terre. It is known from the far south to Oupoué (Boulouparis). This species occurs in humid forest and maquis on ultramafic substrate between 60 and 900 m asl. This species is a forest species and it is very common in the south. It does not seem to be threatened. Its extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 7,144 km² and a minimum Area of Occupancy (AOO) of 452 km². Therefore Alyxia glaucophylla is listed as Least Concerned (LC).
Geographical area
Alyxia glaucophylla is endemic to New Caledonia where it is distributed in the southern part of Grande Terre. It is known from the far south to Oupoué (Boulouparis).
Population
The population size is not known. Field observations indicate a species that is very common.
Habitat
Alyxia glaucophylla occurs in humid forest and maquis on ultramafic substrate between 60 and 900 m asl.
Threats
This species is a forest species and it is very common. It does not seem to be threatened.
Conservation
Alyxia glaucophylla is protected by legislation in Province Nord and it does occur in numerous protected areas: Barrage de Yaté, Chutes de la Madeleine, Côte Oubliée, Forêt cachée, Forêt de Saille, Haute Dumbéa, Haute Yaté, la Dumbéa, Montagne des sources, Pic du grand Kaori, Pic du Pin, Rivière bleue.
