Alyxia hurlimannii is an endemic liana or climbing shrub from New Caledonia with a large and scattered distribution across the eastern part of Grande Terre. It is known from Forêt Bon Secours at the far south to Ouégoa. This species occurs in humid forest and scrubland on ultramafic and non ultramafic substrate between 300 and 1638 m asl. This species is very common and it does not seem to be threatened. Its extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 6,146 km² and a minimum Area of Occupancy (AOO) 180 km². Therefore Alyxia hurlimannii is listed as Least Concerned (LC).
Geographical area
Alyxia hurlimannii is endemic to New Caledonia where it has a large and scattered distribution across the eastern part of Grande Terre. It is known from Forêt Bon Secours to Ouégoa.
Population
The population size is not known. Field observations indicate a species that is very common.
Habitat
Alyxia hurlimannii occurs in humid forest and scrubland on ultramafic and non ultramafic substrate between 300 and 1638 m asl.
Threats
This species is very common and it does not seem to be threatened.
Conservation
This species is protected by legislation in Province Nord and it does occur in numerous protected areas: Rivière bleue, Vallée de la Thy, Forêt de Saille, Haute Pourina, Haute Yaté, Massif du Kouakoué, Montagne des sources, Mont Humboldt, Mont Mou, Mont Panié, Côte Oubliée.
