Alyxia sarasinii is a shrub endemic to New Caledonia restricted to the southern part of Grande Terre. It is distributed from the far south (Prony-Rivière des Lacs) to Tontouta-Ouenghi area with some isolated observations at Canala, Kouaoua and Boulinda. This species is very common et occurs in maquis on ultramafic substrate between 200 and 950 m asl. Its Extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 4,820 km² and a minimum Area of Occupancy (AOO) of 112 km², Alyxia sarasinii is assessed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Alyxia sarasinii is endemic to New Caledonia where it is restricted to the southern half part of Grande Terre. It is distributed from the far south of Grande Terre (Prony-Rivière des Lacs) to Tontouta-Ouenghi area and some isolated observations at Canala, Kouaoua and Boulinda.
Population
The population size is not known. Field observations indicate a species that is very common.
Habitat
Alyxia sarasinii occurs in maquis on ultramafic substrate between 200 and 950 m asl.
Threats
This species is very common and it does not seem to be threatened.
Conservation
This species is protected by legislation in Province Nord and it does occur in one protected area: Côte Oubliée.
