Cynanchum viminale subsp. brunonianum is an autochtonous liana widely spread across the Grande Terre as well as at Belep islands, Ile des Pins and Loyalty Islands (Ouvéa, Tiga, Lifou). This species is found in coastal areas and dry forests at an altitude range of 0 and 250 m asl. It so common that it is sometimes considered as an invasive species in some dry forest areas at Nouméa (Ouen Toro et Fort Téréka) and therefore some sub populations were destroyed. This species is not condidered threatened and therefore is considered Least concerned (LC).
Geographical area
It is an autochtonous liana, widely spread across the Grande Terre as well as at Belep islands, Ile des Pins and Loyalty Islands (Ouvéa, Tiga, Lifou).
Population
It is very common in coastal areas and dry forests of New Caledonia.
Habitat
It occurs in coastal areas and dry forests at an altitude range of 0 and 250 m asl.
Threats
This subspecies does not appear to be significantly threatened at the moment.
Conservation
This autochtonous subspecies is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in two protected areas: Parc zoologique et forestier Michel Corbasson, Ouen Toro.
