Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 21/07/2016Codia albicans is an endemic shrub/small tree of the central and northern part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. It is found in shrubland at mid and high altitude. This species does not seem directly threatened. C. albicans is considered Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Codia albicans is spread in the central and northern part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia, from Mont Kaala and the Roches Ouaïème in the north to Mont Pembaï and Nakada in the south.
Population
This species is know from 10-12 subpopulations. It can be locally abundant.
Habitat
This species is found in shrubland at mid and high altitude (400-1,080 m asl) on various substrates.
Threats
Some subpopulations may be threatened by bushfires and mining activities (Kaala, Koniambo, Kopeto). However, this species does not seem globally threatened.
Conservation
Unprotected by legislation, this species is not known from any protected areas.
