Codia incrassata is an endemic shrub/tree of the north-east part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. It is found in forest at low and high altitude on volcano-sedimentary substrate. This species does not seem directly threatened. Codia incrassata is considered Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


Codia incrassata is spread in the north-east part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia, from Haute Diahot in the north to Goro Ate in the south.

Population


It can be locally abundant or scattered.

Habitat


This species is found in dense humid forest (edges and undergrowth) as well as niaouli savannas at low and high altitude (0-1,200 m asl) on volcano-sedimentary substrate.

Threats


This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by bushfires and habitat quality degradation caused by the invasie Rusa rusa deer (Rusa timorensis).

Conservation


Unprotected by legislation, this species is found in one protected area (Mont Panié).
