Cunonia × alticola is an endemic tree of the southern part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. It is found in shrubland and humid forest at mid and high altitude on ultramafic substrate. This taxa seems to be an hybrid and it is unsure that it is a real species. Therefore, this taxa is considered Data Deficient (DD) for taxonomic reasons. Being an hybrid, this taxa is not submitted to the red list and classified as NE (not évaluated).

Geographical area


This taxa is restricted to the southern part of Grande Terre : Mont-Mou, Montagne des Sources, Kouakoué, Dzumacs, Koghis, Haute-Pourina

Population


It is known of 5 subpopulations.

Habitat


It is found in shrubland and humid forest at mid and high altitude (790-1,200 m asl) on ultramafic substrate.

Threats


This taxa does not seem globally threatened.

Conservation


This taxa is known from several protected areas : Vallée de la Thy, Haute Pourina, Mont Mou, Montagne des sources, Haute Dumbéa, Rivière bleue.
