Geissois hippocastanifolia is an endemic tree of New Caledonia. It is found in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate at mid and high altitude. This species does not seem directly threatened. Geissois hippocastanifolia is considered Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


Geissois hippocastanifolia is spread in the central and northern part of Grande Terre from Sarraméa-Canala to Pouébo.

Population


This species is kknown from 9-10 subpopulations.

Habitat


It is found in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate at mid and high altitude (500-1,100 ma asl).

Threats


This species does not seem directly threatened.

Conservation


Unprotected by legislation, this species is found in two protected areas : Mont Panié, Aoupinié
