Geissois magnifica is an endemic shrub/small tree of the east coast of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. It is found in shrubland and forest edges on ultramafic substrate at low altitude. This species does not seem globally threatened. Geissois magnifica is considered Least Concern (LC).

Geissois magnifica is spread on the east coast of Grande Terre from Yaté to Cap Bocage.

Population


This species is common.

Habitat


It is found in shrubland and forest edges on ultramafic substrate at low altitude (0-300 m asl).

Threats


This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities (Nakéty, Boakaine, Kouaoua, Houaïlou) and bushfires.

Conservation


This species is easy to grow in plant nurseries and could be used more often in ecological restoration. Unprotected by legislation, this species is not found in any protected area.
