Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 21/07/2016Geissois montana is an endemic shrub/small tree of the northern half of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. It is found in dense humid forest at mid and high altitude on volcano-sedimenatary substrate. This species does not seem directly threatened. Geissois montana is considered Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Geissois montana is spread on the northern half of Grande Terre from the Aoupinié to Pouébo.
Population
It is known from 8-10 sub-populations.
Habitat
It is found in dense humid forest at mid and high altitude (70-1,000 m asl) on volcano-sedimenatary substrate.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by bushfires.
Conservation
Unprotected by legislation, this species is found in two protected areas : Mont Panié, Aoupinié
