Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 21/07/2016Pancheria gatopensis is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia. It is found in shrubland and forest on ultramafic substrate at low and mid altitude. This species does not seem directly threatened. Pancheria gatopensis is considered Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Pancheria gatopensis is widely spread across Grande Terre, from Prony in the south to POum in the north.
Population
This species is common.
Habitat
It is found in shrubland and forest (edges and undergrowth) on ultramafic substrate at low and mid altitude (0-1,000 m asl).
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities (Poum, Tiébaghi, Kaala, Taom, Koniambo, Houaïlou, Kouaoua, Tontouta, Goro...).
Conservation
Unprotected by legislation, this species is found in several protected areas : Mont Mou, Pic du grand Kaori, Montagne des sources, Barrage de Yaté, Vallée de la Thy, Foret Nord, Haute Dumbéa
