Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 27/04/2015Hibbertia wagapii is an endemic tree widely spread on the main island of New Caledonia but also on Belep, Daos, Yandé and Ile des Pins. With an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 15,984 km2, an area of occupancy (AOO) of 244 km2 and around 50 known stations, Hibbertia wagapii is assigned a status of Least Concern (LC).

Hibbertia wagapii is an endemic tree widely spread on the main island of New Caledonia but also on Belep, Daos, Yandé and Ile des Pins.
Population
H. wagapii is abundant in New Caledonia.
Habitat
H. wagapii occurs on shrubland and at the edge of forest on ultramafic soils, preferentially on downhill serpentinite. More rarely it can be found in northwestern part of the main sland on schist soil.
Threats
The main threat identified is linked to habitat degradation and reduction due to mining activities.
Conservation
H.wagapii is not protected by legislation but it occurs in some protected areas (réserve nautrelle de la Haute Dumbéa, réserve naturelle du Mont Mou).
