Diospyros flavocarpa is an endemic small tree of New Caledonia widespread in central and north-east Grande Terre and Belep islands. It occurs in humid and mesophilous forest on volcano-sedimentary and ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 30 - 1,100 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. Diospyros flavocarpa is considered Least Concern (LC).
