in Northern ProvinceSloanea raynaliana is an endemic tree of New Caledonia growing up to 10 to 25 m high and sometimes more. It has a scattered distribution across Grande Terre. It occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary soil at an altitudinal range of 300 and 800 m asl. This species is not globally threatened although some subpopulations can be potentially impacted by bushfires and invasive species (Rusa deer, Rusa timorensis and feral pigs, Sus scrofa). Therefore with an Area of Occupancy (AOO) and an Extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 88 and 2,933 km² respectively, Sloanea raynaliana is listed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Sloanea raynaliana is endemic to New Caledonia where it has a scattered distribution across Grande Terre.
Population
Population size is unknown.
Habitat
Sloanea raynaliana occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary soil at and altitude range of 300 and 800 m asl.

Conservation
Sloanea raynaliana is protected by legislation in Province Nord and it does occur in two protected areas: Aoupinié, Mont Panié. The experts note a high variability in this group and it can also contain multiple taxa that may deserve species-level recognition. Taxonomic and genetic studies are needed to confirm or refuting these assumptions.
