Dracophyllum ouaiemense is an endemic shrub restricted to Les Roches de la Ouaième, in north east of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. Its single population is found in shrublands on an volcano-sedimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 600-974 m asl. Recurrent bushfires on the area contribute to the degradation of its habitat. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are both estimated to be of 12 km² with an estimation of one location. Dracophyllum ouaiemense is therefore assessed as Critically Endangered (CR) with criteria B1ab(iii) with a continuing decline of habitat quality.

Habitat
The species is found in shrubland on volcano-sedimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 600-974 m asl.
Threats
Recurrent bushfires on the area contribute to the degradation of the habitat of D. ouaiemense.
Conservation
This species is protected by legislation in Province Nord. However, it does not occur in any protected areas. This species should benefit from in situ and ex situ conservation actions and is recommended to survey the surroundings of the present population to get a better estimation of the population.
