Styphelia veillonii is a shrub endemic to New Caledonia with a scattered distribution in the north (from Oua Tilou to Mont Boulinda) and south (from Kouakoué to Plaine des Lacs) of Grande Terre. This species is found in scrubland from 100 to 1,300 m asl. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are 7,536 and 132 km², respectively. Therefore, S. veillonii is listed as Least Concern (LC).

S. veillonii is endemic to New Caledonia with a scattered distribution in the north (from Oua Tilou to Mont Boulinda) and south (from Kouakoué to Plaine des Lacs) of Grande Terre.
Population
Population size is unknown: this species has not been collected often by botanists, and it may be more widespread than the actual distribution.
Habitat
S. veillonii occurs in scrubland on ultramafic substrate from 100 to 1,300 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened, although some subpopulations may be impacted by actual mining activities (Goro (Vale), Koniambo (KNS) and Kopéto (SLN)) and potential impacts of future mining projects at Boulinda and Creek Pernod.
Conservation
S. veillonii is not protected by any legislation in New Caledonia but it does occur in five protected areas: Chutes de la Madeleine, Parc de la Rivière Bleue, Haute Yaté, la Dumbéa and Massif du Kouakoué. This species should be collected more, and genetic studies are suggested in order to facilitate species identification within this genus. Prospection is recommended at Mé Maoya and on the Tchingou massif.
