Casearia coriifolia is an endemic shrub of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. It is known from three subpopulations (Mont Do, Tchingou and Moindip) and may be present as well in Ponandou. It is found in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrates at an altitudinal range of 750-1,000 m asl. Its Area of Occupancy (AOO) and Extent of Occurrence (EOO) are estimated at 16 and 727 km², respectively. This species does not seem significantly threatened. However, the subpopulation of Tchingou may be impacted by potential future mining activities. Such a threat could quickly drive the species to Endangered in the future. Therefore, Casearia coriifolia is listed as Near Threatened (NT) close to Vulnerable under criterion D2.
