Hernandia nymphaeifolia is an autochtonous species, very common in costal areas (beaches and backhore areas). This species is largely spread acroos the main island (Grande Terre) and it is also present at Ile des Pins and Loyalty Islands. This species is very common in costal areas (beaches and backhore areas). Despite having an Area of Occupancy (AOO) and an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 132 and 56,482 km² respectively, Hernandia nymphaeifolia is not thought to approach the conditions for listing as threatened under any criterion and is listed as Least Concern (LC).
