Near Threatened (NT) , assessed in 08/11/2022Stigmaphyllon angustifolium is liana endemic to New Caledonia. It is restricted to the ultramafic massifs in the northwest of Grande Terre, from Poya in the south to Poum in the northern part of Grande Terre. It is found in shrubland on ultramafic substrate from 5 m to 900 m asl. Known from more than 10 locations, its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) are respectively estimated to 128 and 1,857 km². This species is locally aboundant and it does not seem to be threatened at the moment. However it does grow in areas very impacted by uncontrolled bushfires and mining activities that contribute to the decline of the habitat quality. Therefore, S. angustifolium is listed as Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii).

The population size in not known. based on field observation the species is locally aboundant and it does grow in areas very impacted by uncontrolled bushfires and mining activities.

Conservation
Stigmaphyllon angustifolium is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected area.
