Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 08/11/2022Stigmaphyllon discolor is a native liana from New Caledonia. it is distributed in the southern half part of Grande Terre as well as in Belep islands and Ile des Pins. It mainly occurs in secondary forests from 3 to 500 m asl. This species sometime benefits from this disturbed environements to grow. It is a very common species and it does not seem to be threatened at the moment. Therefore with an extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 16,033 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 120 km², respectively, Stigmaphyllon discolor is listed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Stigmaphyllon discolor is native to New Caledonia where it is distributed in the southern half part of Grande Terre as well as in Belep islands and Ile des Pins.
Population
The population size is not known. Field observations indicate that the species is quite common.
Habitat
This species mainly occurs in forests and also secondary forests from 3 to 500 m asl. This species sometimes benefits from this disturbed environements to grow.
Threats
This species does not seem to bethreatened at the moment.
Conservation
Stigmaphyllon discolor is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in two protected areas : Parc des Grandes Fougères, Parc zoologique et forestier Michel Corbasson.
