Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 17/11/2017Cloezia artensis var. artensis is an endemic shrub or small tree from New Caledonia, widely distributed on Grande Terre, as well as the Bélep islands. This taxon is found in shrubland and low forest on ultramafic substrate (sometimes calcereous or schistose) up to 900 m asl. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 19,908 km² and 272 km², respectively. This taxon is quite common and locally abundant and does not seem threatened. Therefore, Cloezia artensis var. artensis is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area
C. artensis var. artensis is endemic to New Caledonia, where it has a wide distribution on Grande Terre (except the northeastern coast), as well as on the Bélep islands and nearby small islands.
Population
Population size is unknown, but field observations indicate that this taxon is quite common and locally abundant.
Habitat
C. artensis var. artensis occurs in shrubland and low forest on ultramafic and sometimes calcereous or volcano-sedimentary substrate up to 900 m asl.
Threats
This taxon does not seem to be threatened at the moment, although some subpopulations may be impacted by uncontrolled bushfires, myrtle rust (Austropuccinia psidii) and mining activities (Goro (Vale), Tiebaghi (SLN), Vulcain (SMGM)).
Conservation
C. artensis var. artensis is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia but it does occur in three protected areas : Ile Leprédour, Haute Dumbéa and la Dumbéa.
