This species is largely distributed in New Caledonia. It growns in various habitats and various substrates up to 400 m asl. This species is not considered threatened and therefore it is assessed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Syzygium malaccense is autochthonous to New Caledonia where it is widely spread across Grande Terre as well as in Loyalty Islands.
Population
Population size is unknown but field observations indicacte a species abundant and common.
Habitat
Syzygium malaccense occurs in various substrats and in various substrates up to 400 m asl.
Threats
Syzygium malaccense does not seem globally threatened.
Conservation
S. malaccense is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia but it does occur in one protected area: Vallée de la Thy.
