Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 20/11/2020Phelline brachyphylla is an endemic shrub, subshrub or small tree growing up to 1,5 to 6 m high of New Caledonia. It is distributed from the central part to the northern part of Grande Terre. It is found in humid forest mostly on schistose substrate at an altitude range of 30 and 1,100 m asl. Despite having an area of occupancy and an extent of occurrence equal to 108 and 5,390 km², Phelline brachyphylla has no apparent threat, and it is not thought to approach the requirements for listing as threatened. It is listed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Phelline brachyphylla is endemic to New Caledonia where it is distributed from the central part to the northern part of Grande Terre.
Population
Population size is unknown.
Habitat
Phelline brachyphylla occurs in humid forest mostly on schistose substrate at an altitude range of 30 and 1,100 m asl.
Threats
Phelline brachyphylla does not seem to be threatened.
Conservation
Phelline brachyphylla is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in three protected areas: Mont Panié, Parc des Grandes Fougères, Aoupinié.
