Phelline dumbeensis is an endemic small tree of New Caledonia widespread on Grande Terre from Mandjélia in the north to Yaté in the south. Phelline dumbeensis occurs in humid forestat low to high altitude (10-1,200 m asl) on various substrates. This species does not seem directly threatened. This species has a high phylogenetic importance as it is part of the endemic family Phellinaceae. P. dumbeensis is considered Least Concern (LC).

P. dumbeensis is endemic to New Caledonia widespread on Grande Terre from Mandjélia in the north to Yaté in the south.

Habitat
P. dumbeensis occurs in humid forest at low to high altitude (10-1,200 m asl) on various substrates.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities (Plateau (SLN) and uncontrolled bushfires.
Conservation
Unprotected by legislation, this species occurs in several protected areas: Mont Panié, Vallée de la Thy, Haute Dumbéa, Forêt de Saille, Parc des Grandes Fougères, Montagne des sources, la Dumbéa, Aoupinié. This species has a high phylogenetic importance as it is part of the endemic family Phellinaceae.
