Beauprea montana is a shrub growing up to 2-3 m high endemic from New Caledonia. It is mostly distributed in the south of Grande Terre, from the south to the upper limit at Thio-Bourail area with a scattered distribution at Poya, Pouembout and Poindimié region. It occurs in forests and maquis on ultramafic substrate at an altitude range of 150-1,200 m asl. This species is common and is present in several protected areas. It does not seem to be threatened although some subpopulations may be impacted by mining activities at Goro and Tontouta and uncontrolled bushfires. With an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) and Area of Occupancy (AOO) respectively equal to 4,102 and 148 km², Beauprea montana is not thought to approach the requirements for listing as threatened. It is listed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Beauprea montana is endemic to New Caledonia where it is mostly distributed in the south of Grande Terre, from the south to the upper limit at Thio-Bourail area with a scattered distribution at Poya, Pouembout and Poindimié region.
Population
The population size is not known. Field prospections indicate that the species is common.

Beauprea montana occurs in forests and maquis on ultramafic substrate at an altitude range of 150-1,200 m asl.
Threats
It does not seem to be threatened although some subpopulations may be impacted by mining activities at Goro and Tontouta and uncontrolled bushfires.
Conservation
Beauprea montana is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in several protected areas: Forêt cachée, Barrage de Yaté, Côte Oubliée, Forêt de Saille, Haute Dumbéa, Haute Yaté, la Dumbéa, Montagne des sources, Mont Do, Mont Humboldt, Pic du grand Kaori, Rivière bleue.
