Cyclophyllum balansae is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia, widespread from Table Unio in the north to Goro in the south of Grande Terre. It occurs in forest and shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range of 50-578 m asl. This species does not seem globally threatened. Cyclophyllum balansae is considered Least Concern (LC).

This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Goro (VALE).

Cyclophyllum balansae occurs in eight protected areas : Haute Dumbéa, Barrage de Yaté, la Dumbéa, Haute Yaté, Rivière bleue, Haute Pourina, Massif du Kouakoué, Pic du Pin.
