Psychotria faguetii is an endemic shrub, widespread in Grande Terre from Tendé (Ouégoa) in the north to Pic du Pin in the south of New Caledonia. It occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary and ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 300- 1,020 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. Psychotria faguetii is considered Least Concern (LC).
