Psychotria pseudomicrodaphne is an endemic shrub known in Grande Terre from Humbolt in the north to Haute Kuébini in the south of New Caledonia. It occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 300- 1,000 m asl. The main impact identified comes from mining activites and bushfires. However, this species does not seem globally threatened and population does not seem to decline. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) being respectively estimated to 30 and 908 km², Psychotria pseudomicrodaphne is considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii) with a decline of habitat quality and a number of locations equal to five.

Psychotria pseudomicrodaphne is an endemic shrub known in Grande Terre from Humbolt in the north to Haute Kuébini in the south of New Caledonia.
Population
It is known from five sub-populations: Humbolt, Montagne des sources,Massif du mamié, Fausse Yaté,Haute Kuébini.
Habitat
Psychotria pseudomicrodaphne occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 300- 1,000 m asl.
Threats
Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Goro (VALE) and bushfires.
Conservation
Unprotected species by legislation, Psychotria fuscopilosa occurs in five protected areas : Rivière bleue, Montagne des sources, Mont Humboldt, Fausse Yaté, Haute Yaté.
