Tarenna rhypalostigma is an endemic tree from New Caledonia, where it is widely distributed across Grande Terre. It occurs in shrubland on ultramafic and serpentine substrates up to 900 m asl. This species is common and it does not seem to be threatened. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 12,629 and 364 km², respectively. Therefore, Tarenna rhypalostigma is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Tarenna rhypalostigma is endemic to New Caledonia where it is widely distributed across Grande Terre.

Population


Population size is unknown, but field observations indicate that this species is very common.

Habitat


This species occurs in shrubland on ultramafic and serpentine substrates up to 900 m asl.

Threats


This species is common and it does not seem to be threatened.

Conservation


Tarenna rhypalostigma is unprotected by legislation in New Caledonia and it occurs in numerous protected areas : Pic du Pin, Barrage de Yaté, Côte Oubliée, la Dumbéa, Massif du Kouakoué, Montagne des sources, Mont Panié, Parc des Grandes Fougères.
